MITA Releases Statement on FDA Commissioner Gottlieb’s Departure

The Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA) noted Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Scott Gottlieb’s departure from the agency with a prepared statement.

“Dr. Gottlieb has been an effective leader, listener and champion of medical technology innovation throughout his tenure as FDA Commissioner. As an organization with a long history of collaboration with the FDA, we understand and support the agency’s role in ensuring the quality, safety and diagnostic centrality of medical imaging devices,” the statement reads.

“Under Dr. Gottlieb’s leadership, the FDA worked tirelessly to protect patient safety and promote medical technology innovation, and we commend the agency for working collaboratively with MITA and other industry stakeholders every step of the way,” the statement adds.

“We thank Dr. Gottlieb for his service and wish him well in all of his future endeavors,” the statement concludes.
