AAMI 2017 Conference & Expo attendees can expect an enhanced experience this year with interactive sessions and more opportunities to network and learn from peers.

AAMI 2017 will offer more than 50 education sessions and panels ranging from 30 minutes to 60 minutes and consisting of about 100 speakers. Topics include patient safety, C-suite interactions, best practices in healthcare technology, new technologies and innovations, trends in HTM, and cross-collaboration between nurses, technicians, and others.

This year’s conference offers a strong slate of general session speakers who will give practical advice that health care professionals can take back to their facilities. Dr. J. Randall Moorman, MD, who currently serves as a professor of medicine, biomedical engineering and molecular physiology and biological physics at the University of Virginia, will kick off the conference with an opening presentation June 10. Dr. Kevin Fu’s presentation at the Dwight E. Harken Lecture will focus on medical devices and cybersecurity. In addition, George Mills, the director of the Department of Engineering at The Joint Commission, will be back to provide an update on accreditation activities.

The Interoperable Experience in Patient Safety will return in 2017, offering an expanded interactive exhibit along with presentations discussing different aspects of interoperability and showcasing products used in the Experience. If you are interested in being part of the Experience, please contact Wil Vargas at wvargas@aami.org or Deborah Reuter at dreuter@aami.org.

As in years past, the conference will offer opportunities for networking and personal development in the career center. This year, there will be more communal spaces where people can gather and network.

Among those encouraged to attend the AAMI 2017 Conference & Expo are biomedical equipment technicians, clinical engineers, biomedical engineers, hospital information technology specialists, nurses, technology consultants, wireless experts, and other technology-oriented professionals.

The AAMI 2017 Conference & Expo will be held June 9-12 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. For more information, go to www.aami.org/ac.
