Synthorx Inc. has named Joseph Leveque its chief medical officer (CMO). Leveque joins Synthorx from his previous role as CMO of ARMO BioSciences, which was acquired by Eli Lilly in May.

ROX Medical has named Mike MacKinnon as its CEO. MacKinnon joins ROX from Philips North America, where he was head of sales for image-guided technologies. MacKinnon joined Philips through the acquisition of Volcano, where he was president and CEO. Prior to AtheroMed, MacKinnon held leadership positions with Hansen Medical, Access Closure and FoxHollow Technologies.

NuVasive Inc. named Dale Wolf vice president of manufacturing, overseeing its West Carrollton, Ohio manufacturing facility. Wolf joined NuVasive from GE Healthcare, where he headed up its 400-employee Florence, South Carolina plant.

AIVITA Biomedical added Scott Burell as its CFO and Kevin Green as vice president of business development. Burell has more than 25 years of corporate finance experience, and was most recently CFO of CombiMatrix Corporation, the sale of which he oversaw. Green was previously senior director of business development at Allergan for 10 years.

NSF International added food safety advisor Elisabeth Hagen to its board of directors. A physician with a long career in clinical medicine, public health and food safety consulting, Hagen runs an eponymous consultancy on food trends, regulatory issues and crisis management. She is a former under secretary for food safety at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), was a principal in the White House Food Safety Working Group, led epidemiology and science programs in the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, and served as a senior advisor to Deloitte. Hagen holds director positions with the boards of TriStrata Group and Pure Bioscience.

BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) has added Jeffrey W. Henderson to its board of directors. Henderson is the non-executive chairman of the board of Qualcomm Inc., serves on the boards of directors at FibroGen Inc. and Halozyme Therapeutics Inc., and is an advisory director to Berkshire Partners LLC. He was CFO of Cardinal Health for a decade, and spent seven years at Eli Lilly & Co. as a vice president, corporate controller and president and general manager of its Canada operations. Henderson also spent a decade at General Motors Corp.

Sentry Data Systems Inc. promoted Kim Jacques to CIO. Jacques has 35 years in the IT field, including as CIO at private equity firm American Capital and at Lombard International; she was previously IT director for Capital One, and worked on consumer databases and data management at Neilson Media.
