David Edwards

Siemens Healthineers North America of Malvern, Pennsylvania has made David Edwards its Senior Vice President of Strategic Corporate Accounts. Edwards was most recently VP of Supplier Relations and Business Development at Premier Healthcare Alliance, a company with which he spent 17 of his 30-plus years in the business. Edwards has also worked in regional sales management at Baxter International Inc., and holds a degree in psychology from DePauw University, where he participated in mission programs in Costa Rica, Haiti and Honduras.

A. Alan Turfe has been named Chairman and CEO of the Spartanburg, South Carolina-based J M Smith Corporation, succeeding the retiring William R. Cobb. Turfe joins the company from Fresenius Medical Care, where he was Senior Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer. He began his career as a second-shift assembly-line worker at General Motors while completing his MBA, and eventually worked his way up to become CFO of GM Worldwide Purchasing and Logistics and CO-CEO of a joint venture company. Turfe also worked with Fisher Scientific and IDEX Corporation.

Varian Medical Systems of Palo Alto, California has named José Baselga and Jean-Luc Butel to its board of directors. Baselga is Physician-in-Chief at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College; he was formerly the Hematology/Oncology Division Chief and Associate Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Chairman of Medical Oncology and Founding Director of the Vall d'Hebron Institute of Oncology in Barcelona, Spain. Butel is Senior Adviser to the McKinsey Healthcare Practice, has been Corporate Vice President and President of International at Baxter, and was an executive-level manager at Medtronic, Johnson & Johnson, and Becton-Dickinson.

Effective April 1, Eli Lilly and Company of Indianapolis, Indiana will promote Johna Norton, its VP of Global Quality for API Manufacturing, Product Research and Development to SVP of Global Quality to replace the retiring Fionnuala Walsh.

Bart Peterson, Eli Lilly SVP of Corporate Affairs and Communications, will leave the company March 31 to pursue personal business interests. Walsh has enjoyed a 28-year career with the company; Peterson, a former two-term mayor of Indianapolis, has been with the company since 2009.

The Saddleback Memorial Medical Center of Laguna Hills, California, has named Kathleen Sullivan, M.D., its Chief of Staff, and Thomas Vovan, M.D., its Vice-Chief of Staff. Sullivan is a board-certified anesthesiologist who has been with the hospital since 1987; most recently, she was vice chief of staff, chief of anesthesia and chair of the hospital Quality Council. Vovan is the current Quality Council chair and was formerly Co-Medical Director of the hospital’s Critical Care Services and Chief of its Department of Medicine.

Kaiser Permanente of Oakland, California has named Le Anne Trachok its SVP of Revenue Management. The role is a new national one for Kaiser Permanente and for Trachok, who joins the company from Optum360, where she spent three years as chief strategy officer. Trachok has also been SVP of Finance-Revenue Operations for Dignity Health in San Francisco, served at Arthur Andersen LLP, UCLA Medical Center, and Tenet Healthcare. She has a master's degree from Notre Dame and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Washington & Jefferson College.

Community Health Partnership (CHP) of Colorado Springs, Colorado has named Aimee Cox its new CEO. Cox is the current Community Development Manager for the city of Colorado Springs, and will join CHP April 3, succeeding Carol Bruce-Fritz.

Veracyte of South San Francisco, California has named Christopher M. Hall its President and COO, and has promoted VP of marketing John W. Hanna to chief commercial officer. Current Veracyte president Bonnie H. Anderson will continue as CEO and board chair. Hall, who has been COO for three years, will see his responsibility for day-to-day business operations expand; Hanna will oversee sales, marketing and managed care.

HCA Gulf Coast of Houston, Texas has named SVP of Strategic Planning Eric Evans CEO of its East Houston Regional Medical Center. Evans replaces Alice Adams, who retired in December 2016. Evans has been COO of The Woman's Hospital of Texas and CEO of Lakeview Regional Medical Center in New Orleans. He has a master’s degree in health services administration from George Washington University and a bachelor’s of science in business administration from The University of Texas at Dallas.

NYU Langone Medical Center has added reconstructive transgender surgery specialist Rachel Bluebond-Langner, M.D. Bluebond-Langner’s addition is intended to address a growing demand for gender-affirming surgery, in which the hospital intends to become a leader, it said in a statement.

Sheldon M. Feldman, M.D., has been named chief of the division of breast surgery and surgical oncology and director of Breast Cancer Services at Montefiore Einstein Center for Cancer Care. Feldman also joins the Albert Einstein College of Medicine as a professor of clinical surgery. He is president of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and former Chief of the Breast Surgery Division at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center.
